Physicians Health
March 17, 2009 on 12:05 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffYou may want to lose weight, but according to physicians health standards, you must do several things to be sure that you are losing weight in a healthy way.
First, if you are going on a reduced calorie diet, you should get vitamins and supplements to make sure you are getting all the nutrition you need every day. One of the downfalls to a low calorie diet according to physicians health standards is the fact that sometimes you are depriving your body of much needed nutrition.
Don’t stay on a very low calorie diet for an extended period of time. Physicians health says that while a low calorie diet is okay to jump-start your diet, it is not okay over a long period of time. The reason for this is because your body will actually adapt to the low calorie intake and your metabolism will shut down. If that happens, you will not lose weight anymore.
Physicians health standards for losing weight says that it is more important for you to remain healthy than it is for your to lose massive amounts of weight. In order to be sure that you are eating as healthy as possible, try to make fruits and veggies a main component of your diet. They contain large amounts of vitamins and fiber that will keep you healthy and help you lose weight. Remember that if you are losing weight, but you are not healthy, you could actually be harming your body in the end. Don’t deprive yourself food for the sake of losing weight. In the end, what you need to do is to make your diet work for you.
What Makes You Special?
March 16, 2009 on 10:01 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffMany people are too busy today trying to fit themselves into the image of other people. This ranges from physical appearance to dressing mannerism right to extreme character imitations.
And although I can understand the underlying feelings of insecurity which trigger such actions, still it goes without saying that this ‘unhealthy’ habit can be detrimental to your one big asset: recognizing and developing your uniqueness.
Some people are either afraid to show who they really are, because they believe that other people are better than them. Or as a result of lack of inner consciousness, they are just not aware of their own special gifts.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with being who you are. In fact, the more you are willing to be yourself, the better is your chance of being authentic and special. Then no amount of any artistical imitation will ever make a strong indelible impact on other people or makes you feel better about yourself. It is better to be a first class ‘you’ than a third rate imitation of some celebrity. At least this way, you will be upholding the true spirit of individualism and helping along the course of evolution.
Secondly, regardless of how or what you may at present think of yourself, you are still special and that is what other people want to see and experience in you. Psycho-logically, people are more attracted to someone who is genuine. So don’t try to be what you are not.
If you are still in doubt about what is special about you, start by asking yourself these 3 questions:
1.How do people react to me when I am with them?
2. When in a crowd, am l more interested in voicing my opinion or do I listen intently to others?
3. When decisions are made, do I accept to go along with the majority, or is upholding my values more important to me?
Each of these questions can prompt you to look deeper into yourself and recognise what you may be missing: your special abilities.
Your strength lies in your inherent abilities. For these are the gifts of the spirit, the real you.
Learn to know what your assets are and what makes you stand out from the crowd.
The best way to do this is to focus on what you know gives you passion, joy and deep satisfaction. I once had to give a friend some new perspectives about herself. She complained constantly about how people around her were getting along while she felt left behind. One day as I istened again to her lamentations, it suddenly dawned on me that she had been focusing on other peoples’ lives instead of on her own.
I pointed this out to her and encouraged her to look into herself and her life. She was to find out what she could genuinely admire about herself and recognise as her inherent strength.
Well, it didn’t take her long to turn the table. She decided that her life hadn’t been such “a disaster” after all. In fact she came up with what made her to be such a great friend to have around. Her exceptional ability to remain calm and compose in the face of difficult situation.
Once you know what it is that makes you special, keep grooming it until it shines out in all its glory. Thus the saying “who you are speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you’re saying” becomes your true shield and emblem.

Space Shuttle Arresting Hook for Lunar Landings; Feasible?
March 16, 2009 on 9:01 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffCan we land the space shuttle on the moon? Some say it is impossible, but not all. One idea floated in an online think tank recently was to set up an aircraft carrier style arresting hook and allow the space shuttle to land on a flat area or semi hard run way. Of course such a crazy stunt could be risky, but what if it could be done?
One guest to the online think tank thought for sure it could not work because a Space Shuttle would be in orbit around the moon at 530 meters per second and stated; “That’s just a wee bit fast for an arrestor hook, or anything vaguely similar.”
Ah, but who says it has to be vaguely similar? When an idea such as this is thrown out in the abstract form. One needs to think of how to make it work and not only why it won’t. Having built many devices, re-designed equipment and tried and yes failed many times, I always found it interesting that people would say something would never work and then we would always find a way with a few improvements to make it work. It might be nice to have a such a device on the moon in the future to catch robotic cargo loads. Perhaps drop a hook like an anchor and have a friction inertia device slow it down and in doing so, collect energy to charge batteries to run other systems.
Sure we can do better or use other methods to bring things to the moon, but we already have the Space Shuttle assets. This idea is intriguing and such thought might propel a new design for something else later even more important. I think I should make a concept sketch with several other possible applications for this and just put them on the web for idea sake, someone looking for another solution may see it and use the basics for something else.
You know you could have an airborne arresting situation where it did not involve the surface of the moon, but slowed down the shuttle or whatever was visiting and simply have an arm at the end to gently set it on the surface in one piece and that way if the system failed you simply abort and go around. If it was working fine the arm extends and sets it down.
Now then and just thinking out loud with solutions to your 530 meters per second speed of landing. Why not discharge gas directly above the 12 meter AGL glide path and use a gas we do not want from mining operations, then excite those molecules with sound and cause a thickening event, slowing the space craft down and allowing for some flight dynamics and ground cushion. Now it works?
Is there underground thermal activity we could collect to discharge later? Let’s you have a 15-mile shallow angle trajectory and you are cruising along at the speed of a high-powered bullet and you are right next to the ground. If there is suddenly a temporary atmosphere, which thickens as you get closer (more gas and more sound or should I say frequency waves to excite molecules) and may a ground catch system, which would act as a cable with inertia friction dampening. You could do it?
But there must be 30 ways to make this work. I bet there are. I am undeterred there is always a way. And even if the strategy for thermal vent release or extra mining gas release is not worthy here, well that idea might be used somewhere else in the future too for something on a planet with those conditions or similar. So for a think tank site, that idea stands, with some obvious needed added components. Many people have great ideas or thoughts, which lead to other thoughts and each thought should be processed and considered in order to propel new innovations and not all the old stuff which does not work. Consider all this in 2006.

Home Protection, What your security system may not detect!!!
March 11, 2009 on 5:44 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffIn many cases, most people feel pretty secure with a basic/standard home security system, but with today’s criminals/robbers its shocking to know how many of them know there way around a security system. There are a couple of small inexpensive things you can do for you and your family that may prevent that awful robbery.
A. Window Alert is home security device that attaches to windows and set off by vibrations if someone tries to break through. Installs easily on any window, There is so many cases that robbers use there window cutting device that can not be detected from a basic Security system. This little window alarm was an essential in saving the millions of lives that were threatened by a robber.
B. A Home Security Device such as the Watchdog is ideal for home protection, because it accomplishes what even the best living, breathing watchdog cannot do. Rex’s electronic radar eyes, the Electronic Watch Dog Home Security Device can “see” through thick doors, walls and glass. And once his cord is plugged in, he’ll stay on duty around the clock, indefinitely. The Electronic Watch Dog Home Security Device can protect homes, apartments, mobile homes, RV’s, jewelry stores, factories, warehouses, public and private buildings of virtually every kind. For example, most apartment complexes do not have a security system in the apartment units. You only go in good faith that the apartment is safe. Rex, the electronic watch dog, what an easy solution to cure a robbery scare.
• Barking gets louder and more frequent as the intruder gets closer.
• Switches from the watchdog to the tranquil sounds of nature with the simple switch of a button.
• Variable distance sensitivity (up to 30′) as well as volume control.
• Supplements your regular home security system by detecting robbers before they attempt to break into your home.
C. A Nightmare Situation There are preventive solutions!!!
1. The Big Jammer is a home security device that is a strong 20 gauge steel adjustable door brace that installs easily under door knobs and provides added security. Adjusts easily to fit most hinged doors. End caps can be removed to allow for use on sliding glass doors as well. Clean, baked enamel finish makes it attractive for in-house use.
2. The base of the alarm is bolted to door or window frame, the actuator is connected to the window or door. The alarm is activated by opening the door or window. Great for any door particularly those hard to protect sliding glass doors.

I Thought the UK National Lottery Was Good! Tell Me More about the Spanish Lotto
March 10, 2009 on 4:45 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffOn Dec 2008 e-lottery added the Spanish lottery to its product range, affording participants globally a vastly improved opportunity of sharing in this super Spanish lotto prize fund.
If its the first time you have come across the Spanish Lotto, let me highlight just how important this lotto is to the vast majority of the Spanish population. The Spanish lottery has been a national obsession in Spain for a long time with huge involvement generated by the Christmas lottery draw each year. It’s a fact that 98 per cent of the population play this Spanish National lottery each and every Christmas.
There are a few basic reasons why lot’s of Spanish nationals join in the Christmas Elgordo lotto draw.
First Off, there is the incentive of the largest lotto prize fund of any worldwide lottery game – with over 2 Billion Euros! Secondly, there are in excess of thirteen thousand money prizes to be won. Last, the probability of collecting a money prize on the Christmas draw is a highly feasible – one : six.
With the measure of interest that is devoted to the Christmas Elgordo lotto draw, lots of individuals are oblivious that there are 5 additional Spanish Lotto draws every year also. These lottery games happen in July, January and November, March and May. Even though these 5 games don’t feature the massive prize fund of the Christmas lotto draw, they are sizable however, ranging from 78 million Euros to 655 million Euros. In addition, these lotto games provide almost three times as many prizes as the Christmas lotto draw and betting odds of picking up a cash prize of an splendid one in three.
The Spanish Christmas Lotto operates in a different way to almost all other world drawings. A full ticket ‘billete’ is very costly, costing 200 Euros. However, these tickets are broken up into ten ‘decimos’ (tenths) costing 20 Euros each.
When purchasing your lottery tickets you have the option of purchasing 1 decimo, a complete lottery ticket, or a part of a lottery ticket. If you do not buy the whole lotto ticket, somebody else will buy the rest of your lottery ticket. E.g., when you buy 2 decimos, somebody else purchases 3 decimos and somebody else buys 5 and your lotto ticket wins one thousand Euros, and then you will collect two hundred Euros, 300 Euros and 500 Euros respectively. Owing to the expense of purchasing a full lotto ticket, it is not unusual for households and friends to united their lottery cash and all buy a separate ‘decimo’ (tenth).

How to Become an Early Riser
March 9, 2009 on 9:29 am | In Uncategorized | Comments OffIt is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom.
– Aristotle
Are morning people born or made? In my case it was definitely made. In my early 20s, I rarely went to bed before midnight, and I’d almost always sleep in late. I usually didn’t start hitting my stride each day until late afternoon.
But after a while I couldn’t ignore the high correlation between success and rising early, even in my own life. On those rare occasions where I did get up early, I noticed that my productivity was almost always higher, not just in the morning but all throughout the day. And I also noticed a significant feeling of well-being. So being the proactive goal-achiever I was, I set out to become a habitual early riser. I promptly set my alarm clock for 5AM…
… and the next morning, I got up just before noon.
Hmmm…
I tried again many more times, each time not getting very far with it. I figured I must have been born without the early riser gene. Whenever my alarm went off, my first thought was always to stop that blasted noise and go back to sleep. I tabled this habit for a number of years, but eventually I came across some sleep research that showed me that I was going about this problem the wrong way. Once I applied those ideas, I was able to become an early riser consistently.
It’s hard to become an early riser using the wrong strategy. But with the right strategy, it’s relatively easy.
The most common wrong strategy is this: You assume that if you’re going to get up earlier, you’d better go to bed earlier. So you figure out how much sleep you’re getting now, and then just shift everything back a few hours. If you now sleep from midnight to 8am, you figure you’ll go to bed at 10pm and get up at 6am instead. Sounds very reasonable, but it will usually fail.
It seems there are two main schools of thought about sleep patterns. One is that you should go to bed and get up at the same times every day. It’s like having an alarm clock on both ends you try to sleep the same hours each night. This seems practical for living in modern society. We need predictability in our schedules. And we need to ensure adequate rest.
The second school says you should listen to your body’s needs and go to bed when you’re tired and get up when you naturally wake up. This approach is rooted in biology. Our bodies should know how much rest we need, so we should listen to them.
Through trial and error, I found out for myself that both of these schools are suboptimal sleep patterns. Both of them are wrong if you care about productivity. Here’s why:
If you sleep set hours, you’ll sometimes go to bed when you aren’t sleepy enough. If it’s taking you more than five minutes to fall asleep each night, you aren’t sleepy enough. You’re wasting time lying in bed awake and not being asleep. Another problem is that you’re assuming you need the same number of hours of sleep every night, which is a false assumption. Your sleep needs vary from day to day.
If you sleep based on what your body tells you, you’ll probably be sleeping more than you need in many cases a lot more, like 10-15 hours more per week (the equivalent of a full waking day). A lot of people who sleep this way get 8+ hours of sleep per night, which is usually too much. Also, your mornings may be less predictable if you’re getting up at different times. And because our natural rhythms are sometimes out of tune with the 24-hour clock, you may find that your sleep times begin to drift.
The optimal solution for me has been to combine both approaches. It’s very simple, and many early risers do this without even thinking about it, but it was a mental breakthrough for me nonetheless. The solution was to go to bed when I’m sleepy (and only when I’m sleepy) and get up with an alarm clock at a fixed time (7 days per week). So I always get up at the same time (in my case 5am), but I go to bed at different times every night.
I go to bed when I’m too sleepy to stay up. My sleepiness test is that if I couldn’t read a book for more than a page or two without drifting off, I’m ready for bed. Most of the time when I go to bed, I’m asleep within three minutes. I lie down, get comfortable, and immediately I’m drifting off. Sometimes I go to bed at 9:30pm; other times I stay up until midnight. Most of the time I go to bed between 10-11pm. If I’m not sleepy, I stay up until I can’t keep my eyes open any longer. Reading is an excellent activity to do during this time, since it becomes obvious when I’m too sleepy to read.
When my alarm goes off every morning, I turn it off, stretch for a couple seconds, and sit up. I don’t think about it. I’ve learned that the longer it takes me to get up, the more likely I am to try to sleep in. So I don’t allow myself to have conversations in my head about the benefits of sleeping in once the alarm goes off. Even if I want to sleep in, I always get up right away.
After a few days of using this approach, I found that my sleep patterns settled into a natural rhythm. If I got too little sleep one night, I’d automatically be sleepier earlier and get more sleep the next night. And if I had lots of energy and wasn’t tired, I’d sleep less. My body learned when to knock me out because it knew I would always get up at the same time and that my wake-up time wasn’t negotiable.
A side effect was that on average, I slept about 90 minutes less per night, but I actually felt more well-rested. I was sleeping almost the entire time I was in bed.
I read that most insomniacs are people who go to bed when they aren’t sleepy. If you aren’t sleepy and find yourself unable to fall asleep quickly, get up and stay awake for a while. Resist sleep until your body begins to release the hormones that rob you of consciousness. If you simply go to bed when you’re sleepy and then get up at a fixed time, you’ll cure your insomnia. The first night you’ll stay up late, but you’ll fall asleep right away. You may be tired that first day from getting up too early and getting only a few hours of sleep the whole night, but you’ll slog through the day and will want to go to bed earlier that second night. After a few days, you’ll settle into a pattern of going to bed at roughly the same time and falling asleep right away.
So if you want to become an early riser (or just exert more control over your sleep patterns), then try this: Go to bed only when you’re too sleepy to stay up, and get up at a fixed time every morning.
Edit (05/31/05): Due to the (mysterious) popularity of this post, I’ve written a follow-up with some extra detail and clarifications: How to Become an Early Riser – Part II.

Save Your Totally Free Child Trust Fund Voucher with Scottish Friendly, so Your Precious Ones Can Have a Huge Lump Sum of Money when They Get Older
March 8, 2009 on 10:07 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments OffHave you got to grips with the Child Trust Fund and the benefits that it can bestow upon your kids? A remarkably
modest number of parents seem to be aware of the fact that all newly born babies are given a free £250 voucher from the government to invest. Your son or daughter’s vouchercan be invested in any one of threekinds of CTF account, Stakeholder – a shares-based account that changesinto cash, a savings account or a shares account. It is a great opportunity to prepare needs of a youngster
Scottish Friendly is an approved provider of the Child Trust Fund Voucher. The State is eager for the public at large to have access to Stakeholder accounts and this is the form of account that we provide. This means that:
• Investments are placed into Scottish Friendly’s Managed Growth Fund, which aims to provide good growth potential
• An investment is made partly in shares to get the benefit of potentially higher returns over 18 years, compared to a cash deposit account (although the value of shares canfall as well as rise whereas capital would be protected in a deposit account)
• It is available with a low ‘Stakeholder’ funds charge of just 1.5% per year
• At age 18 the child will receive a lump sum, entirely free of Capital Gains and Income Tax under prevailing law
• It is affordable – additional payments can be placed in the account from only £10
A key feature of the Child Trust Fund is that anyone – parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends – may add to the Fund to an uppermost limit of £1,200 per year to help boost the child’s Fund (once added, this money may not be withdrawn).
In a nutshell our Stakeholder account offers a good balance between potentially high returns and a lower level of risk. There is also the additional assurance that our account meets with the Government’s stakeholder criteria. Nonetheless this does not mean that returns are guaranteed or that Stakeholder accounts are suitable for everyone. Remember that the value of shares in the Managed Growth Fund (where your Child Trust Fund money is held) can fall as well as rise and isn’t guaranteed.
Only children who were born on or after 1st September 2002 are permitted to open a Child Trust Fund. If you have older kids who are not qualified you could look at saving for them with a Child Bond – it’s a tax-free savings plan looking for long-term growth. It is undoubtedly the case that investing for your children is a sensible means of preparing for the future.
